Our Lincolnway Township community offers plenty of local flavors, sounds and experiences throughout the summer to keep your days filled with fun and excitement. What’s happening in Frankfort?
- The Frankfort Chamber of Commerce hosts Concerts on the Green at Breidert Green in historic Downtown Frankfort every Sunday evening at 6:30. Concerts run June 19th through August 28th with an array of musical styles throughout the summer. Click here for more information.
- Frankfort hosts its annual 4th of July Celebration from 5-9 pm in Main Park. The event features live bands, inflatables, and fun for the whole family capped off by Frankfort’s Spectacular Firework Display at dusk. Click here for more information.
- July 9th and 10th is the 10th annual Frankfort Bluegrass Festival, an International Bluegrass Music Association Event of the Year winner. The Festival features over 20 bands performing across 2 stages in historic downtown Frankfort. Click here for more information.
What’s happening in Manhattan?
- The Manhattan Park District hosts a Sip of Summer concert series in Central Park on June 15th (Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band), July 20th (The Big Lagniappe), and August 17th (Whiskeyfist). Concessions open at 6 and music begins at 7. Click here for more information.
- Manhattan will celebrate Independence Day a little early, with a parade through downtown beginning at 10:30 on Sunday, July 3rd. The parade will proceed to Central Park for a community party from 12 to 2 pm with music, food, bags and the Splash Pad. Click here for more information.
What’s happening in New Lenox?
- New Lenox brings a variety of food vendors together for your culinary delight in its Fridays After Five events. Held in New Lennox’s Village Commons on June 24th, July 29th, and August 12th, Fridays After Five offers numerous food trucks and beverage vendors alongside live music. - New Lenox is also offering a Triple Play Concert Series featuring performances by Pat Benatar (July 23rd), and Counting Crows (August 27th). Click here for more information.
- New Lenox’s 4th of July Celebration features a performance by Whiskeyfist from 6-8pm in the Village Commons, followed by the Joliet American Legion Band’s prelude to Fireworks at dusk. Food and beverage vendors will be on site. Click here for more information.
What’s happening in Mokena?
- Mokena offers Drive-In movies at The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center all summer long. Family-friendly feature films include The Goonies on June 15th, Sing 2 on June 29th, Grease on July 13th, and Elf on July 27th. Movies begin at dusk and there is a $10 fee per vehicle. Click here to register.
- The Will County Forest Preserve District will host Fun & Food Trucks at the Hickory Creek Preserve on June 24th from 5-8pm. Local food and beverage vendors gather alongside music, lawn games, and family entertainment in the idyllic scenery of the forest preserve. Click here for more information.
- The Mokena Chamber of Commerce hosts Mokena’s annual 4th of July Parade, which steps off from the Mokena Park District at 10am and proceeds down Wolf Road and then north to Granite Drive. Come sunset, Mokena’s fireworks display returns to Main Park. Click here for more information.
