Yes, baby, Maertin Heating and Cooling sure can!
Most of us live in “dumb” homes; built years ago with the technology of the time which is now not as energy efficient or customizable as today’s latest innovations. You might feel that the only way you can control the heating and cooling capabilities of your home is by closing and opening registers! If you live in an older home, you may feel like smart house technology is passing you by.
It doesn’t have to!
The easiest way to make your home smarter is by changing out your thermostat. If you have a thermostat that only allows you to set one temperature for heat and one for cool, upgrading to a programmable thermostat may be everything you need. A programmable thermostat lets you set different temperatures for different times of day – while you sleep, when you wake in the morning, when you leave for work, when you return and when you go back to bed. Some programmable thermostats can also be made “smarter” through the addition of WiFi capability.
If that doesn’t sound smart enough, consider a smart thermostat. These devices use sensors that you can place in the rooms you use most often. The sensor triggers the thermostat to react when you’re actually home, and considers the temperature of the room that you’re actually in (Seriously, who hangs out in the hallway, where thermostats are traditionally located?). When you’re out, the sensor picks that up too, and doesn’t heat or cool your home unnecessarily.
A smart thermostat may also be controlled by your voice like a Google Home or Alexa or by an app on your smartphone. They may be combined with other smart devices such as smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Does all this sound overwhelming? Here at Maertin Heating and Cooling, we’re up to date on the industry’s latest technology and innovations – and we’re always ready to bring it home to you. We can help you select the correct thermostat for your home, your HVAC system and your lifestyle. We’ll properly and professionally install the device you choose and then show you exactly how to use it. No matter how many questions you have, we’ll answer every one of them until you feel completely comfortable using your new equipment.
If you’d really like to add super brain power to your home, ask us about zoning your ductwork to push comfortable air to the rooms you’re using, while closing off the rooms you’re not occupying.
BONUS – Commonwealth Edison offers rebates for certain thermostats! Ask us about which devices qualify and how you can apply.
